'Sister Wives' Star Says Strangers Keep Asking Her to Join Their Marriages

Sister Wives' star, Meri Brown, appears to be incredibly popular, with countless admirers, and that includes married couples.

Sister Wives' star Meri Brown appears to be incredibly popular, with countless admirers. Us Weekly recently shared a sneak peek at Brown explaining just how far some of those admirers are willing to go. And the types of messages she's been receiving in her DMs as a direct result. The discussion occurred in an episode of the TLC series that has now aired.

"There's been a couple of times since I've been dating that people have reached out to me on the socials basically saying, 'Hey, we'd love to have you in our family,'" Brown said. "I've had families reach out to me. Like, a wife saying that her and her husband are looking and would be interested. I've had a man who said he and his wife really like me."

It doesn't stop there, though. In fact, it gets a little weirder.

"I get proposed to, I swear, on a weekly basis," she continued. "You know, I had an e-mail just the other day where a guy, you know, sent a message and it's the weirdest thing. It's the weirdest thing."

Just to set the record straight here, the people proposing to Brown are complete strangers. They don't know her at all, and that's what makes those requests so surprising, and yes, a little strange.

Meri Brown Was Formerly Married to Kody Brown

Meri Brown isn't a stranger to marriage. She was wed to Kody Brown for 24 years, between 1990 and 2014. She then divorced Kody so he could legally marry Robyn Brown and adopt her three children in the process. Despite the divorce, Meri and Kody remained spiritually married until their split was confirmed in January 2023.

Meri later sought an official termination of their spiritual marriage through their former church and was granted what the church calls a "release." A spiritual release is essentially a religious divorce, allowing couples to part ways in their faith.

"The couple previously belonged to the Apostolic United Brethren, a fundamentalist Mormon offshoot group, where Meri, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown Woolley, Robyn, and Kody practiced polygamy," Parade reports.

The new episode of Sister Wives that Us Weekly teased aired on Sunday, October 25 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.
