"All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much, and I can't wait to be back hugging you guys," he said. "You guys, have a good day."
Why Was Lil Nas X in Court?
The rapper was in a Van Nuys, California, courtroom seeking a diversion for his felony police battery case.
O'Connor reportedly asked the judge for a short delay so she could file a motion to transfer the case into an unspecified diversion program. The judge ordered the case back to April 6, as reported by PEOPLE.
We reported on Lil Nas X's arrest back in August. Following a hospital stay on Thursday, Aug. 21, he was charged four days later with three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
The artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $75,000. He was out of jail the same day and ordered to attend Narcotics Anonymous.
Wait... Lil Nas X Was Arrested?
Earlier that week, a video was released showing Lil Nas X strolling down Ventura Boulevard at 4 a.m., wearing white briefs and cowboy boots.
In one video, the rapper placed a traffic cone on his head. He also sashayed down an imaginary catwalk. He told a driver to "come to the party." In another clip, he asked the person, "Didn't I tell you to put the phone down?"
He then remarked, "Uh oh, someone's going to have to pay for that," as he walked away.
That same morning, area residents reported to the LAPD seeing a nude man walking in the road.
When police arrived, he allegedly punched an officer twice in the face. At the time, sources said officers were unsure if Lil Nas X was under the influence or experiencing mental distress.
O'Connor denied any claims that drugs were involved.
"Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person's life," she said. "Nothing like this has ever happened to him."
Back in November, Lil Nas X made a court appearance after being released from an inpatient treatment program.
"As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we're super happy for him," said Lil Nas X's attorney Drew Findling to reporters. "We're looking forward to a positive resolution in this case, which we're very confident of."
If he's convicted, Lil Nas X could face up to five years in prison.
