The two singers teamed up yesterday, May 5, at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas, for a surprise performance of their duet, "Horses and Divorces."

A New Clip Captures the Collaboration Between Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert

In a clip posted on social media, Lambert is wearing a cowboy hat, a jean skirt, and a cute top knotted at the waist. Musgraves is donning a glittery halter top and black pants.

The two perform in harmony under the spotlight, singing the lyrics about two enemies who realize they should have been friends all along.

The two belt out, "Hell just froze over / 'Cause we're both at the bottom of the bottle and we're findin' / We've got a few things in common / Like horses and divorces and we both like to drink / Maybe we're more alike than we think."

Why Were Lambert and Musgraves Feuding?

"Horses and Divorces" appears on Musgraves' latest album, Middle of Nowhere. The singer says working with Lambert after years of alleged animosity was a "very full circle" moment "in so many ways." The two "aired out any of the old laundry" and wrote the song "in a matter of a few hours."

The duo's supposed feud began over a song Musgraves had written with Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark.

"There was all this excitement behind 'Mama's Broken Heart' for me, and it was gonna be my first single, and I loved the song so much," Musgraves explained.

She added, "I had been a staff writer for years at that point, writing for other people and had finally felt like I was collecting songs that felt like me that I didn't wanna pitch to anyone else. Then, the song gets pitched to her without my consent or knowledge. It was a tricky situation. She ended up loving the song, and she really wanted it."

As fans know, "Mama's Broken Heart" ended up on Lambert's Four the Record album. Musgraves wrote another song for herself called "Merry Go Round."

"So in the end," said Musgraves, "everyone won because I was able to let go of something."
