As reported by PEOPLE, the musician from York, England, who performed under the stage name Monarkki with her fiancée, Lily Monarch, was suffering from a cough.

Jenner believed she had a chest infection. Then, on April 18, she suddenly collapsed. She was immediately admitted to York Hospital. A chest X-ray revealed a 10 cm mass in her chest.

"She couldn't lie down due to the mass impacting her breathing and making her cough uncontrollably," said Monarch.

Molly Jenner Underwent Several "Inconclusive" Biopsies

To determine whether the mass was cancerous, Jenner underwent several biopsies. Each one came back "inconclusive."

Finally, on May 21, Jenner was diagnosed with lymphoma. According to Mayo Clinic, it is a blood cancer that develops in the lymphatic system, where blood cells multiply uncontrollably. It's a common cancer in young adults, and it's treatable if caught early.

"She took the news quite well," said Monarch. "She was upset at first. When I got called to the hospital the day she got the diagnosis, she was in a side room, and she cried in my arms."

Monarch added, "But after getting the emotion out, we started to form a plan on how she was going to beat the cancer, as we were always a couple that balanced each other out during times of adversity. After that, she had this truly inspirational determination to beat the cancer, and she wasn't going to let it hold her back."

Jenner Died Before Starting Chemotherapy

Sadly, Jenner died on May 31, 10 days after her diagnosis and one day before she was scheduled to begin chemotherapy. She never had the chance to begin her fight against the disease.

"She lit up the life of every single person she came across," said Monarch.

Monarch said Jenner's death has left her in "ruins." She's struggling to understand how cancer took her fiancée so quickly.

"This was the first health thing she ever had. Up until this point, she never even needed a prescription for anything," she said. "I'm heartbroken; the circumstances kill me every time I think about them."

The couple had planned to perform in Finland later this year.

"She had so much care to give," said Monarch. "It just felt right having her by my side."
