"The universe is serving it to me this year! An update on where I've been: I've been on and off vocal rest for close to 3 months trying to heal a damaged vocal cord," Cody wrote. "We decided to operate to aid the recovery. Then I dislocated my knee rehearsing for a new music video, and we had to push surgery back to let my knee settle. I can't walk or talk for some time now, and no singing or dancing for months to come."

Cody then continued by admitting that he'd been pushing himself hard ahead of the upcoming album release.

"I'm taking time to reflect and understand this for what it is: forced rest," he continued. "The album and live shows have to wait. But I've got some work to share while I'm down for the count. You can't hold me down! I'll be back stronger."

Cody will undoubtedly be disappointed by the current turn of events. However, the additional rest could help him get back to his best, while also refocusing on the task at hand.

Cody Simpson Previously Dealt With a Hemorrhage in His Vocal Chords

Cody's latest bout of injuries comes just months after he revealed that he'd suffered a "serious hemorrhage on one of my vocal cords".

"It occurred due to my overzealousness in the studio singing through a sinus infection I didn't know I had. Assumed it was just fatigue and kept showing up to the studio until one day I could no longer sing," he posted on Instagram at the time. This has also affected my ability to complete the album and polish up the next singles."

Cody had been "prescribed another 2 weeks of silence in hopes of avoiding a surgery which demands a much longer recovery process."

Unfortunately, as he recovered from one injury, the next one quickly followed. Hopefully, Cody can make a full recovery in the coming months, and we can begin enjoying his new album as soon as possible.
