The 44-year-old singer, known for hits including "Don't Mess with My Man" and "Laundromat," revealed that her chronic myeloid leukemia is now in remission. "I'm very grateful," the singer said during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show. "I couldn't believe it because this happened to me this year only a few months ago."

When Hall announced the news to the studio audience, the singer became visibly emotional as the crowd applauded. The Grammy-nominated artist first publicly disclosed her leukemia diagnosis in July, explaining that doctors had discovered the disease earlier in 2026.

Her diagnosis followed an emergency room visit after she experienced severe abdominal discomfort. What initially appeared to be an unusual knot turned out to be an enlarged spleen. Subsequent testing, including two bone marrow biopsies, confirmed that she had chronic myeloid leukemia, a form of cancer affecting blood-forming cells in the bone marrow.

Following the diagnosis, Nivea began targeted treatment designed to control the disease.

"It's been an adjustment, like the symptoms," she said. "I'm tired a lot. I have other issues. I'm bleeding. I have fibroids. It's a long little list."

She described ongoing exhaustion, bleeding, and a separate diagnosis of uterine fibroids. Her health struggles have also prompted reflection on her family and music career.

"I was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, and I am so grateful to God," she said. "I've been going through treatment and everything is going great so far. And I expect it to continue. Amen. Amen. Amen. And I'm very grateful for life. It's so cliché to say, you know, you don't know the time nor the hour, and it's true.

"Definitely don't take anything for granted," she also said. "Like, I definitely lived in my younger years. The days just flew by, and I was just doing what I was doing. I don't know. It's kind of like you don't recognize the short time that we do have here, and how everything is ... I've always noticed the beauty in everything, though, I will say that. But, to be more present in the moment is definitely something I've learned. This time will never occur again. Being more present in the moment. Counting the blessings. Being more grateful."
