Claudine Longet has passed away at the age of 84. The French singer and actress made headlines in 1976 when she stood trial after shooting and killing her boyfriend, Soider Sabich, who was an Olympic skier. The singer reportedly shot Spider on March 21, 1976, using a .22-caliber gun.

"She claimed the gun accidentally discharged as he was showing her how it worked. Sabich died from his gunshot wound on the way to the hospital, and Longet was charged with reckless manslaughter in April, facing up to 10 years in prison," Variety reports.
Following a string of prosecutorial mistakes, including alleged illegal search practices, prosecutors ultimately charged Longet with criminally negligent homicide. She received a misdemeanor conviction and served a sentence of two years' probation along with a $250 fine. At the time, people likely viewed the fine as significant.
Outside of her legal troubles, Longet was highly successful. Her debut album, titled "Claudine," sold over a million copies in 1967. She also made appearances on some major shows, such as 12 O'Clock High, Run For Your Life, and Hogan's Heroes.
