Drone sightings in populated areas of the US have become much more prevalent in recent months. A heatmap has been released showing just how many drones have been sighted around the New Jersey area, and it's alarming.

Across the U.S., videos have been emerging of drones flying over urban areas. The reasons for this are unclear and have even left authorities scratching their heads. An incredible 964 incidents of drones have been reported in New Jersey from November 19 until December 13. Everyone, from residents to cops have spotted the drones leaving many wondering just what is going on.

There are many theories as to what exactly the drones are doing, and where they're from. So far, the government hasn't claimed responsibility, and the local police sure don't have a clue either. But there's nothing new there.

The heatmap of New Jersey shows just where the various drones have been across Monmouth County. They're heavily over the coast and urban areas of the county. There may be many more in non-residential areas, but they haven't been reported.

The sheriff of Monmouth County has released a statement regarding the huge amount of drones sighted over New Jersey. "We urge state and federal authorities to work together in locating the source of these drones and determining their intent. It is essential that we address these incidents swiftly to prevent any concerns or disruptions." They are clearly concerned about the unidentified flying objects.

More Than Just Hobby Drones In New Jersey And Other Locations

A statement released by both the FBI and DHS states that "no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or public safety threat or have a foreign nexus." This implies that the drones sighted over places like New Jersey are domestic.

They imply that a lot of the sightings are in fact mistaken identities, with many of them being satellites or aircraft. However, looking at a lot of the footage and the map of the various drones sighted on the map, I think that may be a stretch. We have all grown up with skies full of planes, and spotting a drone is easy.

So far little has been revealed about why there is such a massive increase in drones sighted across New Jersey and the US. Many suspect it to be surveillance, and others are even calling to start shooting them down.
