Sheryl Crow Says She Broke up With Lance Armstrong Same Week She Was Diagnosed With Cancer

Imagine finding out that you have cancer the same week that your relationship ends. For most people, that would be a devastating one-two punch which would send them reeling. That is what singer Sheryl Crow says happened to her. Speaking about the upheaval in her personal life years ago on The Bobbycast hosted by Bobby Bones, Crow opened up about Armstrong's alleged infidelity and her cancer journey. The pair of traumatic developments took place 20 years in the past. However, Sheryl Crow talks about them with fresh insight, plus the realization she is a resilient survivor.

She candidly shared with Bobby Bones, "I was engaged, I had three beautiful stepchildren, I wanted to have kids with this person. We split in the same week I got diagnosed with breast cancer, and I found out he was seeing a really famous actress."

Crow, 64, also mentioned, "I went through about nine months of radiation and grieving and anger." She and Lance Armstrong had been an item since 2003 and became engaged in 2005.

Armstrong and Crow Had Another Big Obstacle in Their Relationship

The high-profile couple finally split in early 2006. She evidently wanted children. Nevertheless, it was just not the right time for Armstrong to be a dad. That is according to the famed athlete's book, Lance: The Making of the World's Greatest Champion.

He wrote, "She [Crow] wanted marriage, she wanted children." The cycling star clarified, "Not that I didn't want that, but I didn't want that at that time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I'd just had kids."

His post mortem on the relationship with Sheryl Crow? "Yet we're up against her biological clock — that pressure is what cracked it." Armstrong and his ex-wife Kristin Richard had three children. He wed again in 2022 and is the dad of two kids from that marriage.

Crow Went on To Start Her Own Family

The singer did not let the painful ups and downs of her life derail her. Quite the opposite. She adopted a son named Wyatt 19 years ago. Then Crow adopted another child, Levi, 16 years ago.
