Sheriff's 21-Year-Old Son Dies 2 Weeks After Suffering Heat Stroke During Navy SEAL Training

A student at Texas A&M who had aspirations of becoming a Navy SEAL has passed away. He passed away due to complications from a heat stroke he suffered during the basic training process.

The student, 21-year-old Austin Stallman, passed away on Tuesday (September 29). He suffered the stroke about two weeks earlier during the training program.

Austin was the son of Brazoria County Sheriff Bo Stallman. In a statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle,  a spokesperson for the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office said they are "heartbroken" by the unimaginable loss.

"We are heartbroken to share the passing of Austin Stallman, Sheriff Bo Stallman's son, early this morning. Austin began a great battle two weeks ago after suffering a heatstroke in College Station during a training program,"

the statement reads.

"The immense outpouring of love, support, and encouragement the Stallmans have received from you all during this incredibly difficult time has not gone unnoticed. In fact, it's what has kept our Department and the Stallmans strong. We cannot thank you enough, and we will never forget."

Texas-based media outlet TheFacts noted that Austin had been taking part in a 9-mile run before suffering a heat stroke on September 15. According to the outlet, Austin started to feel faint during the run. After realizing that something was wrong, another student got the attention of a nearby vehicle for help.

He was taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors confirmed that he had a heat stroke. As well as Rhabdomyolysis A serious medical condition where damaged muscle tissue breaks down rapidly and releases toxic proteins and electrolytes into the bloodstream (CDC).

Following his passing, Austin's mother, Jeanna, said that she is heartbroken by the loss of her son. But finds comfort in knowing that he is now pain-free.

"We did not get the miracle we wanted, and our hearts are broken. But we know Austin is pain-free, fully restored, already getting the angels to laugh, and he will be waiting for us to join him someday," she wrote in a September 29
