'Basic Instinct' Star Reveals She Was Brutally Assaulted Years Ago and Sustained Injuries

Sharon Stone burst on the scene in 1992 in the steamy thriller Basic Instinct alongside Michael Douglas. She was sensational in the film. Shrewd, manipulative, and cunning, her character, Catherine Tramell, was mesmerizing. Stone played her to the sizzling hilt. She followed that performance three years later with an equally phenomenal one in the Martin Scorsese-directed Casino with Robert De Niro, Stone has earned an Academy Award nom, a Golden Globe, and an Emmy, among her other prestigious honors. However, her life as an in-demand A-list celebrity has not been all glamour and glitz. She recently revealed that years ago, she was allegedly physically assaulted and sustained injuries.

Stone Was Reticent About All the Details Including the Identity of Her Attacker

The actress, 68, seemed reluctant to say more than the bare facts of the situation. She talked about it when she was a guest on the podcast The Person Who Believed in Me on Monday, June 1.

Sharon Stone said to host David Begnaud, "I don't know how much I can tell about this. I was hit from behind. I didn't really know 'til 10 years later what had happened to me because I woke up." She recollected she was "unconscious on the floor."

Stone added that the room was in awful disarray, "The two couches were sideways. The coffee table was all over the place. It was sort of upside down. Everything that had been on the coffee table was all over the floor and I didn't know how I got there,"

She did not divulge the name of the person who was allegedly responsible. "I am not going to say publicly, but I am going to say that we did report and we did do everything. I had the opportunity to press charges, but because it had been a decade and because I'm a public figure, I decided not to." Stone also preferred not to say whether what took place was actually domestic violence.

The Incident Resurfaced in Her Life When She Went to a Doctor

Years after the alleged attack, Sharon Stone was having issues with her shoulders and her neck. After having some x-rays, a doctor stunned her with shocking news she never expected. She said he told her, "Your thoracic rib cage is all fractured and scarred back together. It's clear that you were attacked and that what happened to you was a felony." He strongly advised Stone to report the incident, she said.
