Several college athletes from Texas Tech have been hospitalized after a terrifying jet ski accident. As reported by the Daily Mail US, the incident happened on Thursday, August 27.
Local reports confirmed that a 911 call was made at around 3:38 pm on Thursday during the softball team's event at Lake Ransom Canyon. The canyon is located near the college's Lubbock campus.
Authorities confirmed that three women were injured in the shocking incident. They had suffered injuries to their extremities, legs, and hands. One person had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, and the two others were taken for evaluation in personal vehicles.
It is unclear who exactly of the Red Raiders softball team were injured. The Ransom Canyon Police Department and Fire Department said they were investigating in conjunction with Texas Parks and Wildlife.
A spokesperson for Texas Tech wrote, "Texas Tech Athletics can confirm members of its softball program were involved in an accident Thursday afternoon at Lake Ransom Canyon... as part of a team event."
"There were thankfully no critical injuries as a result of the accident. All injured student-athletes have been treated and are expected to make a full recovery," the statement concluded.

The Coach Also Addressed the Jet Ski Accident
The coach for the team, Gerry Glasco, also wrote on social media, "Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers! Glad everyone is okay and recovering well!"
This terrifying accident comes just weeks after the team reached the Women's College World Series for the second year in a row. The team was unfortunately beaten by Texas, but is still considered one of the top college teams for softball.
The Red Raiders have had an impressive run with Glasco in his two-season tenure. As he enters his third season, they are currently sitting on a 41-7 record. They also won the Big 12 season championship both years in a row.
It's unclear whether these injuries will affect the team in the run-up to the next season. However, as it begins in March, and the team confirmed all affected players will recover, here's hoping that there's no impact! In any case, our thoughts and prayers are with the injured players as they recover.
