Is There A Serial Killer In New England?

After the bodies of three women were discovered, this is the question that many residents have been asking themselves. Daily Mail shares that the remains of 35-year-old Paige Fannon were discovered on March 6. Paige was from West Islip, New York, but her remains were found in New Haven. They were found in a "fast-moving Norwalk River the night after a heavy deluge."
A couple of weeks later, on March 21, another set of remains were found. Those remains belonged to 59-year-old Denise Leary who had been missing. A few days later, on March 25, more remains were found in a "wooded area of Foster." Those remains were later identified as missing 56-year-old Michele Romano.
In addition to the bodies of these three women, several other sets of remains have been found. All were found in New England towns during a similar time period. However those remains have not been identified yet.
Naturally residents are concerned and many believe it is the work of a serial killer. However, authorities disagree.
Authorities Vs. Public Opinion
Despite the growing concern after discovering the bodies of these three women, authorities are adamant that this is not the work of a serial killer. Daily Mail shares the following statement from Conneticut police. "There is no information at this time suggesting any connection to similar remains discoveries, and there is also no known threat to the public at this time."
New Haven police officer Christian Bruckhart expresses his understanding at the public's concern. Additionally he shares his understanding over the "mystique" surrounding serial killers. He comments on how many movies have been made about them, which draws attention and drama to the idea of them. However, even with that understanding he explains to the public that he does not believe there is a serial killer in New England.
He shares, "I can only speak to my department's investigation, in the missing person case, that there's no indication there was any homicide." Furthermore, authorities have pointed out that while the bodies of the three women were found around the same time, they did not go missing at the same time.
Fannon went missing on March 4. Where as Romano disappeared back on August 18, 2024. Then Leary disappeared a month later on September 29. Even the family members or Romano have dismissed the idea that her death was at the hands of a serial killer. However as more and more remains are being uncovered, the public continues to hold their own belief and opinions.
