Serial Butt-Sniffer Strikes Again in California

Police in Glendale, California, were called to a business on Friday after reports that a suspicious man was lurking inside.

Be warned: This next story about a butt-sniffer is a little unsettling.

The subject is not a dog. He is a registered sex offender with a history of being caught sniffing women's butts in public. And he was allegedly doing it again inside several businesses in Southern California.

The Butt-Sniffer Was Allegedly Lurking About

As reported by the New York Postpolice in Glendale, California, were called to an unidentified business on Friday, Aug. 28, at around 3:30 p.m. It had been reported that a suspicious man was lurking inside.

Police said someone was seen crouched down in the aisles. He appeared to be "sniffing someone out."

But as they left the scene, police received another call from a nearby Marshalls about a man engaged in similar behavior. Surveillance footage from both locations led officers to identify the suspect as Calese Crowder.

The 39-year-old was tracked down and arrested for allegedly violating his parole.

The Suspect Has a History

This isn't the first incident involving Crowder. He was arrested last year in Burbank for his odd behavior. He was also caught sniffing a month earlier at the Empire Center shopping complex.

An earlier incident involving the butt-sniffer took place in the women's department at a Nordstrom Rack. Surveillance footage caught Crowder following a female shopper through the store. Police said he then crouched behind her and began "engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks."

He was then found at a nearby Walmart and arrested.

The list of incidents involving Crowder dates back to 2021. In September 2025, the butt-sniffer was ordered to serve 135 days in Los Angeles County Jail after admitting he violated his parole, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Those women who are now watching their backs and checking their butts after reading this story can relax a bit. Crowder will remain in jail until his hearing.
