People love Seinfeld. The weird, wacky gags and storylines had audiences yukking it up from 1989 to 1998. Jerry Seinfeld himself headed a stellar cast that included Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards. It was truly the quintessential "show about nothing." But its lasting popularity was something.

The legendary NBC sitcom resisted being either sappy and sugary or preachy. The formula was overwhelmingly successful. The beloved sitcom found a permanent home in millions of viewers' hearts. Additionally, the Emmys fell in love with the show. It raked in an incredible 68 nominations along with 10 wins. Recently, Julia Louis-Dreyfus dished about the off-camera atmosphere on Seinfeld. All was not always laughs and lightness, according to the actress.
"You're Going To Butt Heads"
When she was a guest on Friends Keep Secrets on Tuesday, September 1, Louis-Dreyfus conceded that sometimes there were clashes. According to her, though, it was more of an "all in a day's work" type of thing rather than any genuine animosity.
As Julia Louis-Dreyfus explained to hosts Lil Dicky, Kristin Batalucco, and Benny Blanco, co-creators Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David were "collaborative" with the actors. Nevertheless, spats did occasionally break out. She put it this way. "I mean, it's hard to do anything really well, and it takes a lot of work, and you're going to butt heads." She added, "Sometimes there was an argument."
She Clarified Her Statements
Julia Louis-Dreyfus backtracked a bit so as not to make it sound like war was taking place on the show. She observed, "What I mean was we were all, like, kids, And we had our own idea and [the writers] had their own idea if exactly what they wanted to do, which was not the norm at the time in terms of structured television."
Moreover, Louis-Dreyfus mentioned, "So I think there was an air of freedom because of that. We had a lot of fun making it."
Regardless of the wrangling that may have gone on off-camera, Seinfeld was a real comedy gem. We will most likely never again see anything resembling it. And that is probably okay.
