With all this exciting news in regards to Miranda Lambert's upcoming album, The Weight of These Wings, it's hard to be patient. Especially after fans have waited two years to hear some new material. Although we still have to wait a few weeks to dive into her full double album, you can get a sneak peek of one track right here.
Over the last few months, Lambert traveled the country with her popular Keeper of the Flame Tour. At a few shows, she included a cover of singer-songwriter Danny O'Keefe's track "Covered Wagon" from 1970. It's a song that fits with Lambert's rambling woman aesthetic, and seems like a natural choice to sit alongside songs like "Vice" on her new record.
You can see a live performance of the song from her stop in Noblesville, Ind. earlier this year below.
"Covered Wagon" will be featured on The Weight of These Wings, due out on Nov. 18. The record will include two discs, one entitled "The Nerve" and another titled "The Heart." Fans will hear a total of 24 songs, including tracks co-written by Jack Ingram, Ashley Monroe, Lucie Silvas and Irish singer-songwriter Foy Vance. Next year, she'll head out on her newly-announced 2017 Highway Vagabond Tour with Old Dominion and Aubrie Sellers.
