Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood took a moment during their tour stop in Columbus, Ohio to pay tribute to the late musical icon Prince.

On April 21, the country power couple paused and chatted with the audience about their shared love for the "Purple One." Brooks revealed to the crowd his wife's longtime love for the renowned pop star and guitarist. He even has his team bring out a ruffled purple jacket that Prince definitely would have approved for Yearwood to change into.

"On the road the last 20 years, we've done a lot Prince during soundchecks, but never live," she explained to the audience. "We're only gonna do a little piece of this, because trust me, I know who the purple one is and I know he's smiling right now."

Although she seemed a little nervous at first, the superstar lets her soaring vocals loose on the epic track that was welcomed with screams and cheers from the crowd. It only took seconds for the 20,000 fans in attendance to sing along, filling the arena with the sounds of a musical legend who won't soon be forgotten.

Of all of the recent country tributes to Prince, Yearwood's was one of the most authentic and emotional renditions we've seen so far. We should expect nothing less from one of the genre's most talented and accomplished female artists in history.
