That's because Pablo Torre shared the security footage of the "Since U Been Gone" singer's visit on an episode of his podcast, Pablo Torre Finds Out.
Give Us a Recap: What Happened to Kelly Clarkson?
The feud between Clarkson and Art of Play began with a post on X. The singer compared her in-store experience to a famous scene from the film Pretty Woman.
"Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn't afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me," she wrote on X. "Wow, dude. You're an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y'all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out."
Art of Play shared its side of the story in a statement posted on Instagram. Apparently, the incident stemmed from Clarkson attempting to buy a mechanical bird.
"Yesterday, Kelly Clarkson visited us in Brooklyn and inquired about buying 'Molly,' a one-of-a-kind singing and dancing bird automaton who plays an important role in the magic shows we host here. Molly is permanently attached to the wall and isn't for sale," the statement said.
The store's co-owner, Adam Rubin, recently told TMZ that he believes Clarkson was upset that the staff "didn't put her on a pedestal." He said fans have posted negative reviews of the store on Google, threatened staff, and demanded an apology from Clarkson.
What Does the Footage Show?
Torre explains that Clarkson was in the store for less than five minutes. She plays with a telescope before she discovers "Molly," the bird at the center of the dispute.
The security footage has no audio. It does show her talking to someone briefly about the bird. He then talks to another customer, effectively ending the conversation.
Clarkson then puts the telescope down and begins to leave. She angrily turns around in the doorway to talk to the man at the front register, makes a scene, and leaves. Once outside, she pulls out her phone.
Torre mentions that the clothing Clarkson was wearing was similar to other customers in the store, suggesting that the singer wasn't judged by her attire. The journalist also mentioned that he's been to Art of Play before and that "Molly" is one of two automatons of its kind in the world. The board is part of the magic shows held at the store.
Hopefully, now that Torre has brought the receipts, this feud will come to an end. Even so, it's still unclear who should apologize to whom.
