Sometimes patience is a virtue. However, when you are waiting for a concert to begin and there is a long delay, patience can be in short supply. That said, fans of iconic rapper Jay-Z had to wait quite a while for his Sunday night show at Yankee Stadium to start. There was a reported security breach that caused the lengthy disruption. Per Page Six, "...[H]ordes of fans broke through security...forcing the Bronx venue into lockdown."

The event was scheduled to have an 8 p.m. start time. However, per the outlet, the gates did not swing open until 10 p.m. Then, the star himself did not take the stage until 12:15 a.m.
Per ABC7 Eyewitness News, "[A] large group broke through security...." That sent the famous Big Apple venue into full lockdown mode. Thus no one could enter or exit.
One Irate Fan Described Her Experience
Rosalynn Glover said she came to New York from Atlanta for the occasion. Her experience was less than ideal, she told the outlet. "We got here a little after 8, went to Gate 2, they bum rushed Gate 2. Bum rushed. People went past security, were not checked and got into the stadium. They closed down Gate 2, we went to Gate 4, same thing happened."
She added, "We were at the suite section, they would not even let us in there. The people working at Gate 4 were laughing. They were taunting us and laughing, which I don't find funny, when we spend our hard-earned money to be here. I flew in here from Atlanta."
Jay-Z Said He Was Sorry About the Unfortunate Situation
The rapper indicated that he and others were prioritizing everyone's safety. Per The Hollywood Reporter, he said this to the audience when the show got underway. "Let me explain the delay to you guys. It was like 10,000 people outside, and we closed all the doors, and somebody rushed the door. They closed the door for you guys' safety and everyone's safety outside. There's 10,000 people outside; I don't want to start the music and people get trampled. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, but I had to make sure everyone was OK. I appreciate your patience."
Fans Got Their Money's Worth
According to the outlet, "the vast majority" of the concert-goers hung in there to see their idol. They got that, plus much more. Also performing were Usher, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Jay-Z's wife Beyonce, and Teyana Taylor. The gala Yankee stadium music event finally wrapped up at 2:45 a.m.
