American Idol winner Scotty McCreery's "perfect girl" and inspiration for his love song "This is It" is none other than his longtime girlfriend, and now wife, Gabi Dugal, a pediatric cardiac nurse at Duke University Hospital. Garner, N.C. native McCreery and Dugal met when they were in kindergarten and began dating as seniors in high school. The two 24-year-olds have a rare, true love story that's on its way to lasting the rest of their lives.
The pair were married on June 16 at Twickenham House & Hall near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina with a crowd of about 200 guests. "I kept it very classic," Dugal told People. "I went with greenery and white flowers, some lanterns and candle votives [for a] rustic feel. We fell in love with the mountains during the summertime [when Scotty proposed], and our [venue] is like a little castle in the woods."
Dugal wore a beautiful lace dress made by Morilee with a long veil. McCreery's childhood pastor and dad, Michael, played important roles in the wedding with the former as the officiant and the latter as his best man. After the ceremony in the North Carolina mountains, guests chowed down on Cajun fare, opting for pies instead of a traditional cake, and the lovebirds danced to their song, Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love."
Next up for McCreery and Dugal is their honeymoon to Tahiti followed by finally moving in together. This has already been a huge year for McCreery. His music career received a big boost after nearly crashing when he was dropped from Mercury Nashville. But he hopped on with Triple Tigers (part of Sony) and earned his first No. 1 single and certified platinum hit "Five More Minutes."
The two haven't shared any photos of the special day on Instagram just yet, but keep your eyes peeled to Scotty and Gabi's pages, where one can already see photos of her adorable Bachelorette party at Disney World.
