Savannah Guthrie will be back on TODAY soon. IT will mark the end of her absence due to the disappearance of her mom Nancy.

Savannah Guthrie will be back in her role on The TODAY Show very soon. Following a lengthy absence due to the still-unsolved disappearance of her mom, Nancy, nearly two months ago, Guthrie plans to return on Monday, April 6, per TODAY. She has not been on the morning program since Friday, January 30. That was just a couple of days prior to 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie's apparent abduction from her Tucson, Arizona residence.

Even with the date of her comeback set, Guthrie still seems to feel a bit torn about resuming her duties as co-host. She shared in an interview with the show's Hoda Kotb, "It's hard to imagine doing it because it's such a place of joy and lightness, and I can't come back and try to be something that I'm not. But I can't not come back, because it's my family. I think it's part of my purpose right now."

Guthrie Intends To Be Authentically Joyful

She intends to be happy, despite the sorrow of not knowing her mother's whereabouts or fate. Guthrie confided to Hoda Kotb, "I want to smile. And when I do, it will be real. I will have joy. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful. And when it's not, I'll say so. And I have been so grateful to have this family. I consider this my family, my greater family."

She Feels Like Her TODAY Colleagues Are Her Extended Family

Guthrie is apparently very close to those she works with on TV. It sounds as if she feels that she will draw strength from being shoulder-to-shoulder with them again. "When times are hard, you want to be with your family. And I want to be with my family. And so I don't know if I can do it. I don't know if I'll belong anymore, but I would like to try. I would like to try."

She admitted that she is not now the person that she was. "I'm not going to be the same. But maybe it's like that old poem: 'More beautiful in the broken places.'"

Guthrie Will Lean Into Her Faith

Faith is not only what will sustain Savannah Guthrie. It is also is what links her to her mother. She explained, "Faith is how I will stay connected to my mom. I won't let sadness win, for her. I saw her grieve. I saw her world shudder. I saw it. And I saw her get up, and I saw her belief, and I saw her love, and I saw her hope, and I saw her smile, and I saw her laugh. I saw her joy."
