San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York found himself in hot water over the weekend.

According to a report from the California Post, York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, on Sunday (August 23). He was arrested on suspicion of engaging in illegal prostitution (via The New York Post). The outlet also said that the Niners owner was convicted of "possessing criminal tools. York was booked into Columbiana County Jail before posting his $5000 bond.

Per the report, York pleaded no contest on Monday after the charge was reduced to one count of engaging in prostitution or disorderly conduct.
As for his reprimand, a Columbiana County judge sentenced him to serve a day in jail for each count, concurrently. He has also paid a total of $1150.00 in fines for the charges.
Additionally, York will be forced to forfeit $160.00 that was seized from him as part of a mutual agreement with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force (New York Times).
The breaking news led to a firestorm of reactions from users on social media.
"That's a wild fall from grace. A billionaire NFL owner getting arrested in a prostitution-related case is definitely not something you see every day," one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"All that money and Jed York has as an owner and he stupid enough to get caught up in this, WHAT A FOOL!" a second user chimed in.
"We truly don't even have to ask for entertainment anymore, it just delivers itself daily," a third user remarked.
Neither the NFL nor the 49ers have released a public statement in response to York's recent arrest.
The 49ers can't seem to stay out of trouble during the offseason. And surprisingly, it has nothing to do with the players.
Earlier this summer, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car crash that left him with significant injuries. Injuries that will limit his availability for the start of training camp. Shanahan publicly said that he was at fault for the accident. He revealed that he momentarily took his eyes off the road to retrieve his cell phone after it slid off his lap.
