Sam Outlaw Announces Sophomore So-Cal Country Album 'Tenderheart'

California country artist Sam Outlaw is dropping his highly-anticipated sophomore album this spring.

Tenderheart, due out April 14 on Six Shooter Records, follows up his critically-acclaimed 2015 debut, Angeleno. He's giving fans a taste of what's to come with a teaser that shows everything from his son's birth to clips from his life on the road. The snapshots are set to Outlaw's tune "Everyone's Looking for Home," which is featured on the upcoming record.

The L.A.-based singer spoke with Rolling Stone Country about the forthcoming album and explained how that city affects his music.

"You can't underestimate the importance of the aesthetic in which I live," he explained. "There is something special about Los Angeles, a special sadness. There is a faded beauty that is here, that kind of strange following of dreams while dreams are being crushed in a regular basic. You can sense that. That's why there's a unique type of country music that comes out of L.A."

The 13-track album was co-produced by Outlaw and Martin Pradler and was recorded in the San Fernando Valley to keep the So-Cal sound. His goal was to "bottle the liveness of music" through his new release. "I wanted to capture what it sounds like for a bunch of people to get into a room and just play songs."
