Ryan Seacrest Explains Bizarre Decision To Appear Shoeless on 'American Idol'

People on TV sport all kinds of footwear. Strappy sandals, rugged cowboy boots, towering stilettos, from chic to casual, you name it. However, Ryan Seacrest recently broke with typical fashion norms on 'American Idol.' He turned up shoeless. Yes, that's right. His tootsies were bare for all the world to see. Was there a reason Seacrest's feet were au naturel? He clarified the offbeat decision on Entertainment Tonight.

Just to fill you in a little, on March 30, Seacrest was chatting with a contestant on the show. Her name is Kyndal Inskeep. She was onstage shoeless, too. Seacrest followed in her footsteps, so to speak, and doffed his shoes as well.

Seacrest Spoke About Going the Shoeless Route

The longtime Idol host told ET, "I just saw Kyndal and I thought, I've never hosted a show in my bare feet. I want to feel grounded, I want to feel that." Furthermore, he is very proud of his pricey pedicure. It set him back $42. Pampered feet, indeed!

He emphasized, "I want to show them off. I just had them done, so it's good it wasn't next week."

Is He Spiffing Himself up in Readiness for a New Love Interest?

Seacrest kidded on Wheel of Fortune, which he also hosts, that he planned to "be on Tinder tonight" to search for potential romance. The contestants in that episode included a married pair and newlyweds who are expecting. I am so lonely up here," Seacrest joshed. The successful 51-year-old bachelor is not known to be in a relationship at this time.

However, he seemed to walk back his Tinder comment on a subsequent occasion. Talking about his alleged hunt for a female companion or mate on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Seacrest said he was only harmlessly joking when he made the remark on Wheel.

He insisted, "People keep asking if I'm on Tinder. Well, I'm not. I think I made a joke about Tinder on Wheel of Fortune."

Even Ryan Seacrest's mother was wondering about it. He shared with ET, "Even my mom called me and she goes, 'Hey, what's this Tinder thing?' I'm like, 'What are you talking about? Mom, this is not what you should be doing.' She said, 'I read about it.'"
