In June, Ryan Adams, the Infamous Stringdusters and singer Nicki Bluhm dazzled the audience at the Telluride Bluegrass festival with a bluegrass-toned version of Adams' classic "Oh My Sweet Carolina."
On Monday, the same lineup wowed a national audience with a beautiful performance of the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
"Oh My Sweet Carolina" is about leaving your heart in the South and feeling your heart strings pull you back home. It's featured on Adams' 2000 Americana album, Heartbreaker, which was recently reissued as a deluxe release.
On the original cut, country legend Emmylou Harris sings the core harmony part with Adams. In this version, Nicki Bluhm lends her gorgeous voice to the harmony. Her stunning vocals coupled with the Stringdusters' support really breath new life into this song.
The Infamous Stringdusters are one of the most popular bluegrass groups in the scene today. Nicki Bluhm has been singing with them on and off this year. She regularly tours with her band, the Gramblers, which are currently on tour with the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
