The former 1990s sitcom star recently sat down for an interview with Seth Abramovitch of The Hollywood Reporter. During the conversation, Barr was asked about the state of her current relationship with her former Roseanne co-stars, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf.
Barr Details Fractured Relationship With 'Roseanne' Co-Stars
Specifically, she was asked if she still "gets along" with Barr and Metcalf, to which she replied, "I don't."
Abramovitch then doubled down. And questioned if there was "any contact at all" between her and the former co-stars. To which she replied, "of course not." Abramovitch noted that it was "sad" to hear about the state of the relationship. He likened their relationship to that of a real family. Barr responded by saying that she felt the same way. She also added that their fractured relationship has left her feeling "brokenhearted."
"Nobody is more brokenhearted than me. I just choose to remember the fun and the good times," she said.
The former sitcom star referenced a particular situation that left her feeling that way. She told the outlet that her son reached out to her former television husband, John Goodman. To gauge his interest in a cameo role in her new show, Meemaw. According to Roseanne, Goodman declined the alleged offer.
At the time of writing, Goodman has not responded to Barr's comments about him turning down her offer for a cameo appearance on her new show.
'Roseanne' Was Axed Due to Star's Social Media Posts
ABC brought back a reboot of Barr's hit sitcom in March 2018. But the television program's run was short-lived. It was cancelled as a result of Barr's social media activity. She fired off a barrage of racially charged posts. This included one that referred to former Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett as the offspring of the "Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes."
Barr issued an apology for the posts. But not before the show's executive producer Wanda Sykes reportedly vowed not to return to the program.
Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, at the time slammed Roseanne for her comments. Calling them "abhorrent, repugnant, and inconsistent with [ABC's] values."
