Hear Ronnie Dunn Cover George Strait for New Album 'Re-Dunn'

Ronnie Dunn, one-half of Hall of Fame duo Brooks & Dunn and one of the greatest country vocalists of the past 30 years, interprets 24 of his favorite country and rock classics on covers album Re-Dunn.

To build up to the album's January 2020 release, Dunn will unveil two songs (one country and one rock) every four weeks, beginning today (Sept. 6) with George Strait's "Amarillo By Morning" and The Hollies' "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)."

The former adds Dunn's familiar nasal twang and some additional country-rock grit to an all-time-great hit Dunn has performed live with Strait.

For the latter, a countrified take on one of the great opening riffs on oldies radio builds up to a honky-tonk song that's reminiscent of Dwight Yoakam's own reinterpretations of rock 'n' roll standards.

"This is a passion project for me," Dunn says in a press release. "If you put together a group of songs that define the soundtrack of my life, this is what it would look like."

Additional country artists covered include Johnny Rodriguez ("Ridin' My Thumb to Mexico"), Tom T. Hall (That's How I Got to Memphis") and Rodney Crowell ("Ashes By Now")
