The wife of Weezer Bassist Scott Shriner, Jillian Shriner, 51, was shot by police and charged with attempted murder. New information has surfaced about the near-fatal incident, with authorities alleging that Shriner fired her weapon first toward Los Angeles police officers.

As reported by NBC News, the Los Angeles Police Department alleges that Shriner, who is also a bestselling author, refused to disarm in an encounter with cops, choosing to firing her weapon instead on Wednesday, April 9. This prompted a response from the officers, who reportedly fired at Shriner, wounding her. She was transported to a local hospital, having suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was charged with attempted murder and then released after posting a $1 million bond.
According to the New York Post, police were near the house that both Jillian and Scott shared in Los Angeles because they were investigating an unrelated manhunt. Reportedly, they were searching for several hit-and-run suspects in Shriner's neighborhood, Eagle Rock. NBC News revealed that three suspects had abandoned their vehicle and ran into the residential area where the Shriners live.
Incident Unfolds
While looking for one of the suspects in a backyard, police officers saw Jillian Shriner in a neighboring yard. She was holding a handgun. A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) news release details that officers ordered Shriner to drop her weapon multiple times. Shriner, however, allegedly refused and even pointed her hun tat the officers. After being shot in the shoulder, Shriner ran into her home and was later arrested.
Jennifer Forkish, LAPD Director of Communications, spoke about the incident with the outlet.
"Our investigation revealed evidence such as a shell casing and video footage showing she repeatedly ignored police commands to disarm and that she fired her weapon at LAPD officers," Forkish said.
KTLA news choppers reveal the moment that Shriner was apprehended by police after being shot. She walked down her driveway with her hands in the air. Then, she laid face-down on the ground and was handcuffed by police.
Her husband, Scott Shriner, in a bizarre interaction a day after the incident, decided to promote Weezer's Coachella show on Saturday, April 12.
"She's alright, thank you for asking," Scott said when asked about his wife. He walking his four dogs, as per the Post. "See you at Coachella," he added before entering his home.
Only one of the three hit-and-run suspects has been arrested.
