Mark Hoppus, guitarist of Blink-182, shared the story of an absolutely awful and terrible no-good with Melissa Joan Hart that completely humiliated her. Or at least that's what every other outlet is saying.

The rock star's memoir, Fahrenheit-182, was released the other day. Inside the pages of Mark Hoppus' life, he details a "tough" date he had with Melissa Joan Hart, the famous Sabrina the Teenage Witch star. Despite him remembering the date harshly, it really isn't as bad as everywhere else is saying it to be.
This is not a 'humiliating' story by any means. In fact, they shared a pretty standard bad date. They had nothing in common and didn't click. It happens, even to celebrities. I know, I know. Shocking.
He only shared the story as it's directly involved in how he met his current wife, Skye Everly, who he married in 2000. So although the telling is necessary, the media inflation of the story isn't.
Ready to hear this utterly 'humiliating' and 'embarrassing' story?
Hoppus and Hart met at the Teen Choice Awards, and she reached out to him through their representatives to ask him on a date. When on the phone, he tried to impress her with "Hollywood industry jargon," though Hoppus doesn't reckon it worked on her.
So let's get this straight. She asked him out, and he failed to impress her? And this is humiliating for who again?
Two Celebs Go On A Boring Date
They decided to go to a sushi restaurant. Unfortunately, they didn't hit it off. "It was an awful date. She was very nice, but we weren't connecting," he wrote.
Hoppus went on to complain that all she could talk about was anything relating to acting. Boring, for sure, but hardly anything compromising. He did then admitted that "from her perspective, all I could talk about was music. We just weren't a great match. It was tough."
It's always difficult and uncomfortable when you and your date have nothing in common. But it happens.
She invited him back to her place after the date, but he ducked out early with a lame excuse. Hart even dropped him back to his hotel.
So, dear reader, I ask again. Who was this date supposed to be humiliating for? If anything, it reflects worse on Mark Hoppus than it does for Melissa Joan Hart.
Although, again, as far as dates go, it wasn't humiliating for anyone. It was just a bad date.
