Rock Legend Recovering After 10-Hour Open-Heart Surgery

The rock legend revealed that this isn't the first time that he's undergone open-heart surgery. He explained that he's now recovering.

Rock legend Glenn Hughes has opened up about his open-heart surgery. As reported by Blabbermouth, this isn't the first time that the Deep Purple star has undergone surgery.

He took to social media on Thursday, October 15, to announce that he is "now home" after "an 8 day stay, and a 10 hour open heart surgery operation."

He explained that he had undergone an "aortic valve replacement", which was "exactly the same procedure" which he underwent previously.

According to the Mayo Clinic, an aortic valve is "one of four valves that control blood flow in the heart". When something goes wrong, it can change the flow of blood. This can lead to "the heart [having] to work harder to send blood to the rest of the body."

His last aortic valve replacement was "done in 2013".

He said that the open-heart surgery was done "at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center" in Westwood, LA. "My doctor, Dr Richard Shemin, head, cardiac, and professor of UCLA, really took care of me with his remarkable staff," he continued.

The rock legend also revealed that his surgery recovery was going well. "Each day as I move forward, I am getting my energy back. There are no mistakes. Everything is in its right place."

The Rock Legend Gave Some Sage Advice

The rock legend went on to give some sage advice to fans. "Never believe that there is something wrong in your life," he confessed. "You are where you're supposed to be. Going through those experiences that are necessary for you right now."

"When you become angry at yourself, because you don't like the experiences that you are going through, you are hindering your growth. Rather be grateful & thankful for every experience that you're going through," he continued.

"Even though it may appear to be terrible in your life, be thankful for this experience, for the experience is not what you think it is, in your finite mind. There is a greater purpose to it. All is well..."

We're glad that his recovery is going well, and hope that he feels 100% as soon as possible!
