Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger recently provided an honest glimpse into his dating life and shared that he has also fallen victim to "ghosting," an incident in which communication between romantic partners falls off without explanation.
During an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe on Wednesday, July 8, the legendary rocker explained how ghosting inspired his new song, "Back in Your Life."
"I just came up with these lyrics really quickly," Jagger, 82, said.
"It's a classic story of meeting a woman and then you have a very quick fling with her. Then she ghosts you," he said with a laugh. "So that's the story."
Lowe asked if the song derived from a personal experience, and Jagger responded, "Well obviously!"
"Someone asked me this question the other day. They said, 'Well, at your age, you know,'" he began, before adding, "I've got memories I can draw on."
Lowe found it hard to believe that Rock and Roll Hall of Famers experience such romantic turmoil.
"Who the f--- is ghosting Mick Jagger?" the podcast host said in shock.
The Rolling Stones front man admitted that "it happens."
Rolling Stones Releases New Album
Jagger's emotional ballad "Back in Your Life" is featured on Rolling Stones' new album Foreign Tongues.
Foreign Tongues was released in stores and on digital streaming platforms on July 10.
The 14-song album includes Paul McCartney, The Cure's Robert Smith, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith.
Reflecting on the recording process, Mick Jagger said: "I loved doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it's not too big, so you can feel the passion from everyone."
Keith Richards added: "The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it's all about the enjoyment of it. I'm blessed to be able to do this and long may it last."
Foreign Tongues, which includes a cover of Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good," is the band's 27th studio album.
