Rock frontman Bret Michaels has announced that he is stepping away from the stage as he continues to deal with ongoing health concerns.

The 63-year-old had only recently returned to performing after undergoing surgery to remove a kidney stone in July.
However, following his comeback performance, Michaels' medical team determined that he was not yet ready to resume his touring schedule.
"Following Bret Michaels' comeback show at The Bowl at Sugar Hill, doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries," a statement on social media reads.
"Bret will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%."
Rock Frontman's Health Concerns Force Him Off the Road
The statement added that Michaels' doctors, Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel, decided to pull the singer from the road to allow him additional recovery time.
"He wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead. Especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels," they said.
On July 19, Michaels revealed that doctors had diagnosed him with a "complicated obstructing kidney stone requiring immediate surgery".
As part of his treatment, doctors placed a stent in the frontman. However, the physical demands of performing live created a "high risk" of displacing the stent.
Should that happen, Michaels would require "immediate medical intervention".
His attempted return to the stage ultimately highlighted the need for further recovery. The singer is now expected to spend the coming months away from performing.

Michaels' Type 1 diabetes has also reportedly added another layer of complexity to his recovery.
"I'm forever grateful for the amazing medical treatment and ongoing medical attention throughout my personal life and career," Michaels said.
"And truly grateful for family, friends, fans, band, crew and promoters for their understanding and, if all goes well, will hit the road late August back to delivering 1000% energy, intensity and truly nothing but a good time."
Michaels had previously revealed that he continued performing despite experiencing "intense pain" before undergoing treatment.
"I'm doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I've got a complete clean bill of health," he added.
The Poison frontman planned to close out August with back-to-back performances in Hinckley, Minnesota, and Huber Heights, Ohio.
Michaels also had shows lined up in Bedford, Texas, Essex Junction, Vermont, and Canfield, Ohio, on September 5, 6, and 7, respectively.
