Hardcore icon Lou Koller has died at the age of 59 following a battle with cancer.

Koller's bandmates in Sick of It All announced the frontman's death in an emotional statement shared on social media.
The New York native revealed in June 2024 that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which had spread to his stomach.
After months of treatment, including chemotherapy, Koller announced he was cancer-free in May 2025.
Sadly, the cancer returned a short time later.

In a statement shared across Sick of It All's social media channels, the band paid tribute to their longtime frontman and close friend.
"It's with unbelievable sadness that we announce to our worldwide hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller," the statement read. "The level of loss that we feel at this time is overwhelming."
"We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to raise everyone's spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world."
The band also thanked everyone who contributed to Koller's medical fund and those who supported him throughout his illness.
"His battle is over now and he can finally rest," the statement added. "Hopefully he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world."
When Koller first revealed his cancer diagnosis in 2024, Sick of It All canceled its European tour so he could focus on treatment.
The band had been preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year.
Lou Koller Helped Define New York Hardcore
Koller co-founded Sick of It All in 1986 alongside his younger brother and guitarist Pete Koller, helping establish the band as one of the defining acts in New York City's hardcore scene.
Over nearly four decades, Sick of It All released 12 studio albums and built a loyal global following through relentless touring and a string of influential releases.
The band's debut album, Blood, Sweat and No Tears, arrived in June 1989, and Just Look Around followed in 1992. Both records sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide.
Their third album, 1994's Scratch the Surface, proved even more successful, selling around 250,000 copies.
Sick of It All's most recent studio album, Wake the Sleeping Dragon!, was released in November 2018. It reached No. 17 on the U.S. Heatseekers chart and also charted in Austria, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland.
