The granddaughter of Elvis Presley now has dark locks of her own. Riley Keough debuted her black hair on Thursday (Nov. 2) via an Instagram story. She was at the Virginia Film Festival, which is presenting War Pony, a movie she co-directed with Gina Gammell.
Though Elvis is synonymous with jet black hair, Glamour likened Keough's dramatic hair transformation to the iconic style of her grandmother, Priscilla Presley. The site wrote that Keough looks like "she walked right off the set of Sofia Coppola's new Priscilla movie."
Keough's hair color has changed over time, with her most recently sporting a curly, red look for her starring role in the Prime Video limited series Daisy Jones & the Six.
"Color was very important in this particular project because of Daisy Jones," hairdresser Maryann Hennings told People. "I needed something that gave her that confidence because she just mows them over. We made Riley this bright red. She's normally dark haired, so I lightened it, put this bright red on it and then put a gloss over it that just made the whole thing shine."
"And with her curls, that color made her the rock star," Hennings continued. "I felt like the wardrobe, that color and that long hair just took her to a new level."
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Keough spoke glowingly about her bond with her hair and makeup team.
"They're so wonderful and creative, but they're also friends," Keough said. "And so it's a very fun experience because you're kind of getting to hang out with your friends and then you're going out for the night."
Per IMDB, War Pony tells "the interlocking stories of two young Oglala Lakota men growing up on the Pine Ridge Reservation."
