Last week, the official website for the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" singer shared that she was admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, for "emergency intestinal surgery."
Then the next day, May 7, it was revealed that the 74-year-old was placed in a medically induced coma. A new statement released today, May 12, clears up any rumors about her current condition.
Is Bonnie Tyler Going To Be Ok?
Yesterday, we shared that an outlet in Portugal reported that Tyler suffered a cardiac arrest. It occurred when doctors attempted to bring her out of her coma.
"Bonnie Tyler's health deteriorated this Friday. The 74-year-old singer suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and was later resuscitated," the article stated. "The episode reportedly occurred when doctors attempted to bring her out of an induced coma."
The report also alleged the singer was battling an infection and was prescribed a high dose of antibiotics.
However, the latest statement from Tyler's representation refutes this report.
"As of this morning Bonnie remains seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro, however her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery," the statement reads. "Bonnie's family are very disappointed at the many lurid and untrue rumours now circulating in the media and would like to make it clear that Liberto Mealha does not represent them in any way whatsoever and is not in contact with them regarding Bonnie."
"When there is any further news of Bonnie's condition then we will issue another statement but ask that the media cease to speculate or publish wild rumours, which simply serve to upset her family, friends, and many fans, and ask again for privacy and decency at this difficult time," the message concluded.
Tyler Will Be Going on Tour Later This Month
Tyler's appearance at the SummerLUST Music Festival in Malta on May 22 has been canceled. She remains scheduled to tour Europe and celebrate the 50th anniversary of her recording career later this year. Her first show is on May 30 in Wiesmoor, Germany.
