The tabloid rumor mill and social media speculation have gone into overdrive since Reese Witherspoon's March divorce from actor and producer Jim Toth. Her team's already shut down rumors tying Witherspoon to Tom Brady, clarifying that she's never even met the retired NFL quarterback.
Now, the gossip surrounds a supposed romance between Witherspoon and Kevin Costner, a fellow Oscar winner and recent divorcee. A rep for Witherspoon simply told People that "this story is completely fabricated and not true."
Witherspoon and Toth announced in March that they'd filed for divorce just days before their 12th wedding anniversary. A settlement was reached in August.
"It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the couple shared in a join statement on social media. "We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together."
The couple shares an 11-year-old son named Tennessee. Witherspoon had two children with ex-husband Ryan Phillipe: 24-year-old Ava and 20-year-old Deacon.
"Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter," the statement added. "These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time."
News of Costner's divorce from Christine Baumgartner after 18 years of marriage broke in May. Their settlement became official in September. They're the parents of three children: 16-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes and 13-year-old Grace.
"[Costner] is just thrilled that the negotiations are over," a source told US. "At the end of the day, Christine is the mother to his children and he didn't want to fight anymore."
