It looks like we’ll be seeing Reba McEntire back on the small screen very soon.

Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry is bringing a new series back to ABC and he’s bringing Reba with him. Sources are describing the series as a “Southern Gothic soap opera.”

According to Variety, Cherry’s newest plot line takes place in the town of Oxblood, Ky. following a terrorist attack. A cocky agent of Middle Eastern descent is working with FBI to investigate and teams up with the local sheriff. Together, the two uncover secrets darker than either of them could’ve ever imagined.

It is still unclear if Reba will be playing the sheriff or another character. The series seems as if it will be quite different from the comedy shows she’s is used to. Reba spent 6 seasons on the CW’s popular sitcom Reba. She also had a short lived stint on ABC with Malibu Country.

The launch of the series seems like perfect timing for Cherry. He wrapped up production on the fourth and final season of Devious Maids earlier this year.

Cherry will executive producer this new project along with his producing partner Sabrina Wind under Cherry-Wind Productions. Along for the ride will be along Mindy Schultheis and Michael Hanel of Acme Productions. With such a great combination of talent, the show is sure to be a hit.
