The tragic passing of the Queen of Country, Dolly Parton, absolutely rocked the world. Friends and fans alike have mourned her loss. And one of the most affected by her death is none other than fellow country musician Reba McEntire.

The two were really quite close, having fostered a long-time friendship. So, when the news broke of Dolly's passing, she was quick to mourn her and post a touching tribute online.
At the time, she wrote, "Thank you, Lord, for Dolly. She's gonna have a blast in heaven singing all her favorite songs with all her family and friends who have gone on before her. I'll never forget the first time I met you and I'll never forget our last conversation. I hold it with love in my heart. I will always love you."
And now, we have a little more information about their last conversation—or rather, what could've been. As reported by Whiskey Riff, Dolly had given her a call back in July, but she was in a meeting - and tragically missed it.
Dolly Parton Had Called Reba Ahead of Her Passing
"Well, it took us a long time to connect because of our schedules and things," she recalled. "And it was really special when we finally did connect and get to talk, and I didn't want to keep her, I knew she was busy because she always is, but I didn't wanna let her go."
"She did call me the last of July," she explained, "and I was in a meeting and I missed her call." She'd "tried to get back in touch" but wasn't able to.
And that made the death of Dolly Parton all the more heartbreaking. "And then when Lisa Davis, my buddy, called me on the morning of the 25th and she said 'Dolly's gone', I thought, 'I'll never know why she called me.'"
She got emotional before saying, "So that—I'll find out one day." She also described Dolly Parton as "a blessing for all of us". Ain't that the truth?
We truly hope that Reba McEntire isn't too rocked by this. Dolly being Dolly, I'm sure she'd understand.
