Mackayla Paige, known as "Kash," has tragically died at the age of 29. She was shot and killed on Sunday, October 11. According to the Oakland Police Department, Vernika Dunbar, Mackayla's sister, was trying to pistol-whip a woman during an altercation, but accidentally fired the shot that killed her sister.

Before her death, Mackayla was known for multiple appearances on reality television shows. She appeared on Real West Coast Baddies, RoomH8z, and Young & Reckless.
Following the shooting, Mackayla was taken to a local hospital where she later passed away. Police had been called to the scene of the incident at approximately 1:30 am. Earlier in the night, Mackayla had posted videos of herself onto her Instagram Stories. According to local outlet KTVU, there was footage posted to TikTok which showed a "large police presence" outside Cave Lounge.

A woman from Richmond was initially arrested in connection with the shooting. However, Dunbar has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter, assault with a firearm and gun violations, per Fox 13 News.
Currently, the police have not released any information as to what led to the altercation between Mackayla and the unnamed woman.
Family and Friends Pay Tribute to Mackayla Paige
When speaking with KTVU following the incident, Mackayla's family and friends paid tribute to her larger-than-life personality.
"Oh my God, she was so fun. Was she not hella fun? Oh my God, this girl was so fun. She had us everywhere," one of Kash's girlfriends, named Poodahh, told the outlet.
Mackayla's cousin, Nicky Clayton, revealed her desire to be famous, ideally via reality television.
"She wanted to be famous so bad," said Nicky Clayton, Kash's cousin. "She still had morals, don't get me wrong, but she wanted to be a reality star, and she [wanted] to start her own business."
Mackayla's death will undoubtedly leave a hole in the family, with many set to mourn her loss. Currently, no details regarding an impending funeral or celebration of life have been made public. That information will undoubtedly remain private for family and close friends.
