Kate Gosselin's comments about her son's mental health have caused him to fire back at his Reality TV star mother.

In the wake of Collin Gosselin's new book, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, the 22-year-old leveled serious accusations about his mother. These include claims that she had a specially designed room in the basement that she would lock him into as a child. He also alleged that she sometimes zip-tied his hands together.
After Collin hit the talk show and podcast circuit to promote the new book, Kate, who starred alongside her son on the reality TV show Jon & Kate Plus 8 and its iterations from 2007 to 2017, pushed back against the allegations.
In an Oct. 10 TikTok video about her dog, the 51-year-old responded to fans' supportive comments. "I know you already know this, but you have the support of so many," one of Kate's followers offered. The fan added that their own feed recently became "flooded with such terrible lies."
"It should be illegal to defame someone that way. I just wanted to say you are doing a great job keeping your head up through all of this," they went on to write, per PEOPLE.
"Thank you so much," Kate shot back, according to PEOPLE. "I know rational logical ppl or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what's going on here :)."
Collin Gosselin Pushes Back at Mental Health Comments... and So Does His Dad
Now, Collin had a solid response to his mother's comment, which seemingly applied to his mental health.
Speaking to TMZ, the reality TV personality and author pointed out that he has passed multiple psych evaluations without issue (on the interview circuit, he claimed Kate sent him to a mental institution at age 12).
Meanwhile, Collin pointed out to the outlet that his mother has yet to have her own mental health evaluation.
Colin also pointed out to TMZ that he was thankful for his father, Jon Gosselin, for supporting his side of the story.
"First and foremost, I couldn't be more proud of my son's heartbreaking memoir and his mission to help other victims of abuse," the 49-year-old told Us Weekly earlier this week.
"Let me be very clear: If you continue to falsely label my son Collin as 'mentally ill,' you will be held accountable," Jon, who divorced Kate in 2009, added. "As you know, Collin has been evaluated by multiple independent psychiatrists, and that narrative is proven categorically untrue."
