R&B legend Ruby Andrews has sadly passed away. The music icon was 79.

Andrews, who real name was Ruby Mae Stackhouse, passed away at her home in Chicago. She leaves behind a lasting legacy in the music scene. Following the passing of the R&B legend, her family took to social media to mourn their loss.
Her family shared a moving tribute to the "Casanova (Your Playing Days Are Over)" singer.
"Today my heart is broken as I share the heartbreaking news that my beloved Auntie Ruby Andrews, the great blues and soul singer, has passed away. Auntie Ruby was truly one of a kind. Her powerful voice, soulful spirit, and incredible talent touched generations of music lovers," she wrote.
Andrews leaves behind a lasting catalog of works, but her song "Casanova (Your Playing Days Are Over)" was easily her crowning jewel. It was a crossover hit in 1967 and also helped her go on tour and even perform at the Apollo.
R&B Legend Dies
Ultimately, it landed at No. 9 on the R&B charts and to No. 51 on the pop charts. Other hits included "You Made a Believer (Out of Me) and "Everybody Saw You" among others. Her career spanned more than five decades.
According to her family, she kept performing well into her twilight years. Beyond just being on stage, she also founded and ran Genuine Rub Records LLC. But most importantly, she was a family woman. The R&B singer will be remembered for her kindness and her beautiful soul. That's something that her family will never forget.
"Her remarkable career was recognized with her 2023 induction into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame, a well-deserved honor for an artist who made such an enduring contribution to soul, R&B, and the blues," the post on social media also added. "But beyond the records, the accolades, and the beautiful music, she was my Auntie Ruby, family, loved one, and a beautiful soul who can never be replaced."
