RaeLynn Preaches Empowerment With 'Queens Don't'

RaeLynn just dropped a powerful self-respect anthem for everyone needing an early week pick-me-up with her "Queens Don't" single and music video.

Instead of tearing down adversaries or bad boyfriends, RaeLynn suggests building yourself up higher than their insultingly low expectations. Why stoop to their level? Queens don't.

It's easy to frame the verses about relationships and gender roles as great messages for young women, but most anyone can learn a thing or two from a chorus that preaches self-love as the best form of revenge.

"A 'queen' is any person who knows that they are royalty from the inside out regardless of where they came from," RaeLynn said to Entertainment Tonight. "I wanted all my incredible friends and fans to remember that their self-worth shouldn't be based on material things or other's opinions, but rather the beauty and strength of your spirit. I hope this song inspires everyone who hears it - guy or girl, young or old -  to be a queen and to never settle for people in your life that don't see your true incredible worth."

As for the song itself, pop elements abound. Like Maren Morris, RaeLynn has the right voice and the storytelling chops to not be overshadowed by the occasional dance beat, allowing her to strike the right balance between honoring her roots and chasing crossover success.

"Queens Don't" Lyrics:

I wasn't raised in a castle
I grew up on the outskirts of town
No dresses with golden tassels
The rings on my hand are handed down
But I'm gonna find the one that needs me, sees me
And treats me like I'm already royalty
There ain't nothing priceless on my wrist
I might not fly private, but that don't mean I ain't a queen

Queens don't hate, queens don't fight
Queens don't stay unless their king treats her right, oh
Every jewel on my crown, you better believe I earned it
Won't keep people around that don't believe I deserve it
No, queens ain't fake
A queen's gonna rule just the way she was made, oh
I ain't 'bout to let nobody come and take me off this throne
Some girls might, but queens don't

No, I don't need the tallest tower
To prove to anyone I ain't weak
I turn my pain into power
Every tear's a diamond on my cheek

Queens don't hate, queens don't fight
Queens don't stay unless their king treats her right, oh
Every jewel on my crown, you better believe I earned it
Won't keep people around that don't believe I deserve it
No, queens ain't fake
A queen's gonna rule just the way she was made, oh
I ain't 'bout to let nobody come and take me off this throne
Some girls might, but queens don't

Queens don't break, they just get stronger
There ain't nothing they can't conquer

Queens don't hate, queens don't fight
Queens don't stay unless their king treats her right, oh
Every jewel on my crown, you better believe I earned it
Won't keep people around that don't believe I deserve it
No, queens ain't fake
A queen's gonna rule just the way she was made, oh
I ain't 'bout to let nobody come and take me off this throne
Some girls might, but queens don't
