Seems like 2025 is not letting up with the tragedy just yet. A pregnant mother and her two children were killed recently in a shocking murder.

Pregnant Mother And Two Children Killed
Danielle Arruda, 39, and her two children Adele and Felex were killed in a shocking murder. Danielle, her five-year-old daughter, Adele, and two-year-old son, Felex, where victims of a murder-suicide. The culprit...Danielle's husband and the children's father.
The Daily Mail shares that Nicholas Arruda had a history of violent encounters. In addition to violent encounters with past relationships, he was also known for stockpiling weapons. A violent man and weapons does not seem like a good mix. Unsurprisingly, the result was tragic.
Nicholas shot and killed his wife, who was pregnant with their third child, along with his two children. He committed this shocking murder with a semiautomatic weapon in the family's home. Afterward, he took his own life with a single bullet to the head.
While the connection between a violent man and stockpiling weapons seems like an easy recipe for disaster, people were still shocked at the outcome. West Greenwich Police Chief said that no one would have expected this. He stated, "They lived together, and all indications from family and friends were that they loved each other and they loved their children."
Next, he shared a horrible truth. He stated, "I wish there could be an explanation to help you make sense of this horrific act. But the truth is, we may never know why it happened."
How The Shocking Murder Was Discovered
The shocking murder of the pregnant mother and her two children was discovered after a wellness check. Danielle worked at Marinosci Law Group, and after not appearing for several days, her coworkers called the police.
Police arrived to the home, and when no one answered the door they grew suspicious. This prompted them to force entry into the home, where the police chief admits they were "met with one of the worst crime scenes he had seen in more than 30 years."
All four bodies were lying on the floor in their pajamas with fatal gunshot wounds. The Daily Mail shares that both exits of the home were blocked. The back blocked by clutter and the front door locked and secured from the inside with a chain-latch.
There were no signs of struggle with any of the victims and an "M-4 type semiautomatic weapon" was found near Nicholas's body. Both families are disgusted and surprised at the hateful act. Nicholas's brother spoke out against him. He stated, "My brother committed the most cowardly despicable act one could perpetrate. Quite literally the opposite of what a man is supposed to do."
Danielle's cousin admitted that this incident was surprising and "came out of the blue." Additionally, the Arruda's neighbors seemed equally surprised. One neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, admitted that they were a quiet family that kept to themselves. They knew so little about the family that they did not even know Nicholas's first name.
Furthermore, hunting is very popular where they reside. So if anyone heard the sound of gunshots they did not think twice about it.
Not His First Rodeo
While family and neighbors were surprised at the shocking murder, I can't help but wonder why no one had their suspicions. After all, this was not Nicholas's first run-in with violence or the law. The Daily Mail shares that he had several cases of violence stacked against him.
In 2014, he was charged with felony assault related to a previous relationship. Police found "a loaded rifle, ammunition and hand grenades." For some reason, the judge ordered that all of those items be returned to Nicholas. The victim refused to cooperate, leading to the dismissal of the case.
Later in 2014 he was arrested again and charged with "assault and battery, disorderly conduct and one count of felony assault." In this instance he threatened a 17-year-old girl he was dating with a gun as well as threatening to kill himself. Furthermore, the following items were found inside of his home. "A rifle with a fully loaded clip along with another round in the chamber; a tactical vest that contained ammunition; and 'numerous boxes of ammo' and 'other materials,' including several hand grenades."
Those were just two of the instances. Arruda had more issues with other women over child support, "extreme risk protective orders" and more. Even former classmates of Nicholas argued that "his whole persona was that he was a skinhead."
With all of this evidence and turbulent back history, it seems like this murder-suicide fits right along with Mr. Arruda's MO. It is slightly shocking that no one had any suspicion of a violent outburst coming. Regardless, this shocking murder of a pregnant woman and her two children is utterly devastating.
