I guess when they are not busy fighting crime the Power Rangers are busy beating up the elderly. At least that is what it looks like according to video footage released by the Nampa Police Department. Dashcam footage captures one of the Power Rangers actors as he launches an assault on an elderly man.
'Power Rangers' Actor Sentenced In Assault Of Elderly Man
Hector David Rivera Jr. is well known for playing the green Power Ranger. However, now he may be just as well know for harassing an elderly man — who was using a walker by the way. The footage came out last summer and shows Rivera walking up to an elderly man using a walker and shoving him to the ground.
The assault of the elderly man took place in a parking lot and Nampa PD state that the act of violence occurred "after they exchanged words about a parking issue." Apparently the issue was over the fact that Rivera parked his truck in a handicapped spot, when he clearly does not appear to have a handicap. After shoving the man to the ground the Power Rangers actor can be seen getting into his truck and driving off.
The Sentence
While police did not initially recognize the Power Rangers actor, the public did. It took no time at all for the public to identify the attacker. Once identified, Rivera received his sentence. The NY Post shares that originally the actor was slapped with 180 days in prison. However, I guess being a Power Ranger pays off.
Canyon County Court Judge, Matthew B. Schelstrate, apparently suspended 135 days of the actor's sentence — very generous of him. Now, he will only need to serve 45 days in prison. In addition to that small slap on the wrist, Rivera will also have two years of supervised probation. I guess they want to ensure he doesn't beat up any other older people in parking lots.
Finally, he will have to complete 100 hours of community service. Nothing like community service to remind you that it's not so hard to be a decent human being. Luckily, the elderly man who was the victim of the assault reported no injuries.
