Fresh off headlining the 2026 Stagecoach Festival, the Texas native noted that he needs more time to finish his double album, The Eternal Buzz, before hitting the road for tour.
In a statement shared to his Instagram Stories on Friday, May 1, the 30-year-old Grammy nominee said it became apparent that the timeline "isn't really lining up."
"Looking at the upcoming schedule after Stagecoach," he wrote in his post, "I came to the realization that what we're trying to do, and what's possible, isn't really lining up. The truth is, I promised y'all beautiful people new music. I don't have the time to finish it before tour starts. We ain't ready for tour just yet. So, I'm making the decision to push the tour back about three weeks to get this music done."
In addition to delaying the tour by three weeks, several shows in Texas were cancelled, and Malone expressed sorrow.
"I'm so sorry to the folks who were planning on coming to the few cancelled shows," he wrote. "I was looking forward to going nuts with y'all."
Low Ticket Sales May Have Prompted Tour Adjustment
Following his announcement on Instagram, Malone also shared an updated poster for the Big Ass Stadium Tour.
Based on a comparison between the original tour announcement and the updated official poster, the following shows have been excluded.
- May 13 — El Paso, Texas (Sun Bowl Stadium)
- May 19 — Waco, Texas (McLane Stadium)
- May 23 — Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Tiger Stadium)
- May 26 — Birmingham, Alabama
- May 29 — Tampa, Florida
Although the "White Iverson" artist made no mention of ticket sales, several outlets have reported low ticket distribution in cities removed from the tour.
Digital Music News reported widespread ticket availability at several locations, citing pricing data and seating charts.
Regarding his upcoming double album, Malone told Billboard at Stagecoach that he is nearing completion.
Malone revealed that he'd already completed the majority of the 40 tracks for Eternal Buzz.
"I sit there and listen to these songs, and I usually hate listening to my music," he said, "but listening to the band play, I get so excited."
