Andrew Cross, a popular travel influencer who called himself "Desert Drifter" and attracted a huge following on social media, has passed away at age 36 after a car accident in Colorado on January 31. Cross "sustained a serious brain injury," per newyorkpost.com. On Tuesday, he was removed from life support. His family made the very sad announcement.

According to TMZ, Cross's vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle at a stoplight."The driver of the other vehicle, Ragnar Nickolas Kristl, has been charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, careless driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs."
Per Today, Cross had been filming in Utah at Bears Ears National Monument.

According to the Post, "'Andrew's spirit is free, surrounded by light and love,' Cross' heartbroken sister, Jenna Spooner, wrote on the CaringBridge website this week."
She added, "Then in the room, friends and family read scripture, prayed, and sang during the process of removing life support and for over an hour afterwards. Andrew really lived life to the fullest. It's been wonderful to get to know him in new ways as we've seen photos and stories shared by so many. We look forward to more of that as we honor a life well lived."
Spooner also wrote, "We know that a life dependent on machines is not what Andrew wants. It's not God's will for Andrew, either."
Cross wed his wife, Evelyn Rakowsky, in 2021.
