Holly Marie Combs, best known for her work on the cult television series Charmed, has revealed that she has "retired" from acting.

What Led to the "Charmed" Star's Retirement?
Combs shared the news on the latest episode of her Charmed rewatch podcast, The House of Halliwell, named for the character she played for eight seasons on the show.
In the episode, Combs shared that raising her three kids, whom she shares with ex-husband David Donoho, played a big role in her decision. She is also a stepmother to the daughter of her now-husband, restaurateur Mike Ryan.
"It was a lot of family," she said. "During COVID, we had three teenagers. Well, it was three teenagers and a preteen in the house, and it was just mayhem and chaos."
She also said she wasn't impressed with the quality of roles she got after Charmed ended its 178-episode run. Her last onscreen role was a guest spot on Grey's Anatomy in 2019.
"The stuff that I was getting and coming across my desk was just nothing that I was like, 'Oh my gosh, this is really great. I need to do this,'" she said. "And being in, you know, that 40 to 50 range, the job pool gets even smaller and smaller. And I feel like the roles get a little less interesting."
Will Holly Marie Combs Return to Acting?
Combs said many of her industry friends are trying to get her to come out of retirement. However, she has a busy schedule "running 15 businesses."
Despite enjoying life in Washington state, the Charmed actress says she does get the acting bug occasionally.
"I miss it occasionally because... there's those moments when you're involved, and you're acting, and you're working that are just, I think it's like being present," she said.
She added, "That's what escapism is. And we get to escape into this different character with a different set of situations than our own life. And there is something about being in that moment that is quite peaceful, even if you're doing something highly dramatic."
