America Loves Rom-Coms: A State-by-State Map of the Most Popular Love Stories

Who doesn't love, love?

Ah, rom-coms. They're the peanut butter to our cinematic jelly, the warm hug on a lonely night, the cherry on top of a perfect date night. And there's one for all different kinds of viewers in the world. From the bustling streets of New York City in When Harry Met Sally, or the awkward charm of The Princess Diaries, these movies just have a way of tugging at our heartstrings and tickling our funny bones simultaneously.

Whether it's a story about friends who fall in love, enemies who can't resist each other's charm or a protagonist who learns to love themselves, we can't seem to get enough. And guess what? It's not just you and your besties curled up in pajamas, entranced by the romantic escapades on screen; America as a whole is smitten with these lovable tales.

Check out this map of the United States, where each state is color-coded to represent its favorite rom-com. It's a veritable love letter to America's affair with romantic comedies. It's like the dating profile we didn't know America had. And you don't have to ask hundreds of people what their favorite is, because it's all laid out here for you.

What does the map show, though? Let's check out some of the details. Those living in Alabama understandably love Sweet Home Alabama, while those in Montana favor As Good as It Gets. Come to find out, every state has their own favorite rom-com movie. With this new map from CableTv, you can see what every state's favorite rom-com is. The site cross-referenced data from Google's list of most popular romcoms with Google Trends data.

Who would have thought that so many states favor the 80s hit Pretty in Pink? It's the favorite movie for 15 states in various sections of the map. About a Boy and Pretty Woman are also popular choices for the Southeast. Several states stick with more local films. Hawaii, for instance, chose 50 First Dates as their favorite romantic comedy, which takes place in Hawaii, after all. Gotta represent where you're from.

The Princess Bride had quite a large following across the country, too. It's in a bit of a different class than the other movies on the map, seeing as it's a little more of a romantic adventure and more fantasy-oriented than Love Actually or Clueless, but to each their own.

It all just goes to show you that the heart wants what it wants. And the entire country wants different rom-coms! Do you think this map is accurate for your state, or do you prefer another on the list?
