According to the Daily Mail, this dangerous design mistake allows the hot food stored inside to escape the pressure cooker. If customers are unfortunate enough to be around, contact with the hot food can lead to serious injuries, including the aforementioned third-degree burns several customers have reportedly suffered.
As per the outlet, a total of 106 people have suffered injuries caused by the SharkNinja pressure cookers. Out of those, more than 50 suffered second and third-degree burns to the body and face. As a result, close to two million pressure cookers were recalled.
SharkNinja shared a statement with the Daily Mail, addressing the issues being reported by its customers.
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, we have reached out to our customers directly, including via email, text and if necessary postal mail, and through a variety of other channels, including social media, asking our retailers to notify their end-consumers and put up posters in their stores, and on our DTC website," the statement reads.
"We're staffing a contact center six days a week that can be reached via phone, email or web form. We're doing similar outreach in Canada as well."

The pressure cookers, sold at around $200, were sold at different stores across the United States, including Costco, Walmart, and Target, as per the outlet. A total of 12 different models of the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker were recalled:

Additionally, all OP300 series pressure cooker lids were also recalled following the injury reports. In connection with the injuries, a total of 26 lawsuits have been filed against SharkNinja. Thankfully, no deaths have been reported as a result of a pressure cooker malfunctioning.
