It looks like America loves their sweet snacks because popular snacks include Milky Way bars, Chips Ahoy, Snickers, Twix, Kit Kats, Starburst, Almond, Joy, and Sour Patch Kids. As for salty snacks, Kettle Chips, Pringles, Funyuns, Lays Chips, Ruffles, Ritz Crackers, Cheetos, and Cheez-its all made the list.
Snack foods that didn't make the cut include Chex Mix, Reese's, Trail mix, and Hostess snack cakes. How can you say no to comfort food favorites like those?

In fact, on average, Americans eats roughly 22 teaspoons of sugar each day, typically in the form of processed foods and high-fructose corn syrup, according to the Kankakee Daily Journal. Additionally, the average citizen consumes over four pounds of potato chips each year.
Although the term "junk food" didn't appear in common parlance until the 1960s, the term—and the food itself—continues to dominate American food trends today.
